I finally a good picture of a coupling rod end, and updated the drawing such that it is a good likeness. The loci for the rod ends were recalculated, and the rods found not to interfere with the splashers.

The boiler outline was added in, and the throatplate has been positioned to maximise the size of the firebox. I've not yet considered the detail of the crank axle. The crank axle is going to have to wait until the valve gear is drawn. Some sort of stretcher will have to cross the frames by the throatplate. It will have to clear the crank webs. It's unlikely that the position of the throatplate is final.
